What is a user-defined dashboard?

User - defined dashboard is a customizable business dashboard that allows individual users to control their experience. Each user can select the data they want to view, along with the dashboard's structure and layout. In essence, a single user-defined dashboard can present unique data for each user.

Why use a user-defined dashboard?

A robust reporting and BI tool, dashboards consolidate key business metrics onto one page, a real-time overview of operations that empowers leaders to make swift, informed decisions. Typically, dashboards present a fixed of metrics in a standard layout.

For example, a sales dashboard may showcase metrics such as daily or monthly product sales, sales figures by region, top customers, and salesperson performance However, if one sales manager requires different metrics than another, challenges arise.

They must either build a new dashboard or request one from the IT department. The user-defined dashboard addresses this issue by allowing the IT department to create a single dashboard while enabling each user to customize their data as needed. This approach offers the best both worlds: users enjoy personalized dashboards, while IT avoids the constant demand for new dashboards for different users.
